Louise Brock is very pleased to be offering a FREE 6 Week therapeutic creative arts course specifically for family carers ( A family carer is anybody who is unpaid and looks after someone with a long term illness, mental health issue or disability who cannot cope without their regular support) .
This will be held in person at the Action for Family Carers Centre in Maldon-Essex from Thursday 22nd September from 10.30am to 12 noon for 6 weeks.
This free 6-week experiential therapeutic arts course will offer a safe confidential space where carers can take time out for themselves and have the opportunity to build new friendships and support systems with other carers. Carers are invited to take part in a guided relaxation/visualisation prior to creating their art pieces with the range of materials provided each session.
Refreshments will also be provided for participants. During the second half of the session, participants are offered time and space to gently explore and process their image within the group setting, should they wish to.
Creating art can be extremely calming, restorative and very beneficial for reducing feelings of stress and anxiety. Engaging with art helps us to tap into the right-hand part of our brain enabling us not only to connect with our more creative side but also enables us to connect deeply within ourselves and can assist us in processing difficult emotions in a safe, gradual and gentle way.
No previous training or expertise in artwork is needed to attend this course, as everyone is able to create despite our inner critiques we may hold! Just a willingness to take part in creating art is needed. In order to gain the most from sessions, it is very recommendable for participants to attend sessions regularly wherever possible for the 6-week duration.
